Mickey's Big Dual Sport Adventure
On June 27th, I’m heading to Pennsylvania to ride the Mid Atlantic Backcountry Discovery Route on my dual sport. It will be my first long bikepacking trip. I can’t wait.
The Mid Atlantic BDR is an incredible trail that follows dirt and rural roads from Lawrenceville, Pennsylvania for 1,080 miles to Damascus, Virginia. Along the way, the route crosses three states—Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia—as it weaves its way south through Pennsylvania’s Amish country and then through the Appalachian mountains. Although the route travels through some remote terrain, it’s never very technical and most of it can be ridden “2 up” (important in case one of the dating apps steers me in the right direction).
Over the next several weeks I’ll be blogging and vlogging (@M7spades) about my trip preparations and training routine. I’ll be covering my gear list, packing techniques, and route planning. If you’ve done the route before, I’d love to hear from you about must-see destinations along the route.
So there you have it. Let the adventure begin!
